Anyhoo, I don't tend to post much, but I hope to contribute somewhat here.

Hi everyone, I wanted to introduce myself... My name is Eric, I grew up in an evangelical Christian family and was raised in the church. Along the way (quite by accident) I developed a contemplative prayer practice. I had some interesting experiences while I was in college that evangelicals would never admit to having and definitely wouldn’t talk about. In retrospect I’m pretty sure I passed the A&P during this time though I didn’t know it then. All of this along with a growing dissatisfaction with Christianity prompted me to look at other options for contemplative practice. After stumbling around trying all sorts of things I finally started a daily Vipassana meditation practice using primarily Mahasi style noting about 3 years ago. After some time of feeling like I wasn’t making much progress I got in contact with a teacher about a year and a half ago and things have progressed very quickly since this. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and contributing to the forums.

~ ~ ~ Hello Everybody ~ ~ ~
My name is Tomer. I'm 24.5
years old. I live in Petah Tikva, Israel
(the sunglasses are because it's a sunny place...
) . I've spent the last 20 months on self-retreat In my mother's home doing anything from 0 to 10 hours of formal sitting meditation per day so naturally I have a lot to share and discuss. I'm really excited
to be here, and I'm also feeling a little timid
. I hope to have a very meaningful time here. I'll see you all around.

Hi all,
I'm 35, married, we've got a 1-year old daughter, I'm from France.
I was raised in a practicing Catholic family, I stopped praticing in my mid-20's and then lost faith.
The first books about buddhism I read were from jesuits sitting in Japan (Lasalle, Johnston, Kadowaki), in university, and since then I've regularly tried to establish a regular pratice, with no success so far, even after the motivational boost I got from MCTB a few years ago, and lurking on-and-off in pragmatic dharma fora. I've probably had an A&P event in summer 2012.
Let's see where all this leads to!
