Hangout: Social Chat

Russell and I were chatting earlier and decided to have a new hangout, which we haven't done in forever. See the Events tab for schedule info (currently planned for May 15, 8pm central). No topic! Though we can discuss the tea jhana, which is where you make a cup of tea and sit and drink it.

There are a lot of new faces lately, and old ones who haven't been as active. So thought it would be nice just to have a window for dropping in and chit chatting about whatever people want to talk about.

This topic (Hangouts) by the way has a sticky post which answers any questions you may have about how hangouts work and how to schedule them. Hopefully I followed the directions pretty well. But any questions on your part, read that sticky first.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to make it tomorrow. I've got some packing to do--I'm leaving on a bike trip after work on Friday. If I do end up with enough time, I'll try to drop by.

I'm going to follow this instruction from the How To:

"5. At Hangout time, the stakeholder should be able to simply blast out an invitation to everyone in the +AwakeNetwork Community. This ensures nobody gets left out although, of course, it is first-come, first-served as people pop on. This may need to be fine-tuned, but seems the easiest way to go initially."

So be sure you are in that Google group (see Hangouts section, sticky post, for instructions if you aren't familiar with this.)

Would love to attend - I am actually in the US at the moment so time difference is ok for once - but do't think I can get to wifi point by that time. Have a good time.

Tom - you might add to this instruction #5 something like: "The invitation will appear in your Google Plus home page, so be sure you are logged and looking at that."

In some cases in the past, launching a hangout sent emails to the invitees, so some were wandering around trying to find the invitation. Not everyone uses Google + frequently, so aren't used to thinking of the Google + home page as a place for receiving alerts.
