Update:
Villum (CEU) - GMT plus 1
Ona (flex, BR) - GMT minus 3
Andy (Evenings, EST) - GMT minus 5 - *
Mark Peacock (7-10pm EST) - GMT minus 5
Tom (flex, EST) - GMT minus 5
Nadav (flex, EST)
Russell (Evenings, CST) - GMT minus 6 - *
Chris (CST) - GMT minus 6
Shargrol (CST)- GMT minus 6
Mike Ramos (flexible, WST) - GMT minus 8
So what I did was use a webpage where you can see everyone's zones at once. Only US EST and CST people have indicated they have 9-5 jobs, so we're aiming for a slot that is between 7pm and midnight US EST/CST on a weekday.
That provides the following weekday options schedule: (screen shot attached, hopefully).
Greenwich Mean Time - 1am - 6am
US EST - 8pm-1am
US CST - 7pm - midnight
US PST - 5pm - 10pm
Central Europe Time - 2am - 7am
Brazil - 10pm - 3am
What say we go for something towards the back of that time frame, such as 4am GMT? That would be late evening for US folks, early morning for Villum, and middle of the night for me.
Here's the site if you want to play with it. It even marks standard work hours so you can see them at a glance.

Anyone else? What about Monday night/Tuesday morning this coming week? (March 4/5 depending on your time zone).

I'm available weekends, Early mornings. monday evening, thursday and friday evenings. For the next three weeks, and possibly, hopefully longer, i will be working a 9-5ish job (after 1.5 years of unemployment! It might be very temporary so far, but i get to use my philosophical training. Woohoo!). I'm gonna be what's-the-word... grown-up? responsible and say you go ahead without planning for my attendance at least this coming week. I need to get proper sleep for this, though I will drop by if I happen to be up.
I will tell you when i'm ready to be more flexible.

We'll do one every few weeks, or more, as interest permits. Who else is in on this first one?

If Villum's doing "plan without me" this time (night of March 4/morning of March 5 Europe), I propose we move it up to an earlier slot, so I don't have to do 2 or 3am.
How about 9pm EST/8pm CST/6pm PST/ 11pm Brazil on March 4th (Monday evening)? Thoughts?
Also, if you are in, email me: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so I can send the invite when I start the hangout (or one of you can be setterupper).
For reference: generally available timeframe is as follows (session should take place within this range):
Greenwich Mean Time - 1am - 6am
US EST - 8pm-1am
US CST - 7pm - midnight
US PST - 5pm - 10pm
Brazil 10am-3pm

4am GMT on Monday? OK. That's 11pm EST.
*EDIT*: Aha! Yeah, that time works better. I'm in. I just added you on Google+, Ona. I believe you can also paste the URL in this thread once you create the hangout.

One question for hangout-knowledgeable folks - does the hangout continue to exist once it is created (even if everyone has gone away), or does it exist only for the duration of it being actively used and vanish once everyone has signed out/hung up? ie the second time we meet do we create a new one? or just re-enter the previous one?

I'd give it a try. I work 8-4:30 Central time. Lunch from noon-1:00. Flexible evenings and weekends.

I tried out Villum's hangout a couple of months ago, and the link he posted on the KFD forum worked fine - even though it was weeks after he posted it. This suggests the link stays live, but if no-one is 'in' then you get a blank screen and a message telling you no-one has joined the hangout yet. You can use the same link again and again.Ona Kiser wrote: One question for hangout-knowledgeable folks - does the hangout continue to exist once it is created (even if everyone has gone away), or does it exist only for the duration of it being actively used and vanish once everyone has signed out/hung up? ie the second time we meet do we create a new one? or just re-enter the previous one?

My intention is to paste the link here once it's set up, in case anyone pops along who didn't already get in touch via email... I've set my alarm so I don't forget and go to bed.

I'm afraid I'm going to miss the 1st one. Worked all weekend, 11 hours yesterday and looking like at least that today. Hopefully next time. Looking forward to hearing about it.
