Thank you for all your help.

Honestly, I still feel that way sometimes, and I’ve been here for quite a while. Like my awakening isn’t legit in some way. Ona had a good comment about that over on another thread.

“I think there's a real freedom in letting go of having to make sure you come across as awake enough.”
I am so ready.
I felt a bit unsure about posting any questions at all here when I first joined, because I don't think I saw any questions asked at all - it was more specialist-sounding topics and practice logs. DhO appears to be more accessible in that respect, and I didn't have so many inhibitions about asking questions there. Although the responses varied between super-gratefully amazing and a weeny bit infuriating.
Maybe we should post more simple questions if we want more activity?

I can't quite remember when I joined, maybe early 2017. I think the first question I asked was answered by Daniel Ingram, with which I was pleasantly surprised. There were one or two other peeps that gave advice that I didn't manage to appreciate quite as much, which I suppose might be a side effect of having variety of experience and understanding amongst the members.Laurel Carrington wrote: That’s interesting; I’m curious about when you joined DhO. I joined in late 2010 and was terrified of looking like a fool (although I eventually started posting and getting into controversies with people, removing all doubt
). Folks were apt to jump down your throat at one time, but that’s no longer the case.

First post here. I've been over at DhO since late 2017. I've peeked over here a few times and even made a user account a while ago. As this discussion mentions, It seems that there hasn't been a whole lot of action over here and maybe that's why I haven't made the habit to check back often. I will change that and add AN to my bookmarks bar!
I too often wonder where users of these forums end up when they drift off into the unknown, ceasing to contribute. Perhaps these are people that make good progress, have things figured out in their practice but are less willing or skilled to teach others or bring new ideas to the table. I for one fit this category which has turned me into a lurker more often. When someone posts a question for help, I hesitate to chime in because I know someone with much more experience will come in with a much more helpful, intelligent and wise slam dunk (and this happens almost every time). In general, I think that there is a lot of intellectual intimidation that keeps people in lurk mode.
Another thing: There's quite a lot of great information on here, DhO and other places. It has changed my life, no doubt. People will read all they can but I sadly believe that at a certain point there just isn't enough new good ideas in meditation to produce enough fresh content to inspire enough productive engagement on a forum. That being said, it's still worth sifting through the incoming noise to find the gems .

I'll start swinging by here more often. Thank you all!

I'm supposedly a 'founding member', having participated here since near the beginning, and when I read that I thought 'actually, me, too!'. Weird. But true.

Er, yeah, that exact sentence stuck out for me too, but I hesitated in replying to it... looks like you got the slam dunk Ona!

No thank you. With a recent burst of generous donations, and the halving of the monthly fee, we are now good for 3.47 years.

Now there's some incentive to keep the conversations going!

Maybe it's one of those mostly abandoned buildings out in the wilderness where a weary traveler might chance upon and seek shelter. But if that's the case, the place probably needs a new roof or something... is this website still a few updates/security upgrades behind? It shows up as "not secure" in my browser, which is like having the place filled with spiderwebs, the traveler might not want that kind of shelter....

Edit: But seriously, I miss the notifications.

"He's just mostly dead." --- wasn't that a line in "The Princess Bride?"

Yes, it is behind. It needs a certificate for sure, and PHP needs to be updated. I don't want to spend significant engineering effort modernizing the infrastructure if it has little to no traction. That includes the notifications, which I have no idea why they aren't working for some people, since I get notifications on some topics.
