Mind Hacking

I came across this short presentation by Vince Horn on "Mind Hacking", in conjunction with an upcoming Life Retreat on the same topic. Needless to say, this resonates very highly with me, but suspect this might cause some lively discussion:

I think it's really easy to take the "human mind is like a computer" metaphor too far. I suspect but cannot prove that we will eventually have to admit that the human mind is a literal mess of chaotic phenomena, like those that I observe when I sit and see it in meditation. Why we would want to make that chaotic mess out to be like something that is actually very deterministic, logical and neatly made is beyond me. As many of you know, I do not believe we are more than the physical elements and processes that comprise our anatomy, the physics and chemistry of life. But it's pretty obvious to me that we are NOT deterministic, logical, or neatly made.

Never-the-less, what Vince says is great. I'm just getting tired of the mind = computer operating system metaphor as I think it overplays our hand.
