Strange movie

Watched a strange movie tonight called "Vernon, Florida". It's one of Errol Morris' early documentaries. Apparently he went there to do a film about the prevalence of insurance fraud (in the form of people cutting off their own limbs "by accident" to collect...) in the tiny rural town, but was threatened with death several times and in the end dropped the subject and did one of his documentaries where random people just talk on camera. There's an old guy who talks about raising earthworms, and another who talks about turkey hunting, and one who shows off his collection of wild animals (a turtle, a possum), and another who just talks about random shit. It's oddly fascinating.

In the end I thought, you know, it's easy to think these people are eccentric, but I talk all day about the random shit that interests me, and it's no different really.

I recommend the film only if you are a fan of Morris and watching eccentric people talk about random stuff. Otherwise you'll be bored to tears.
