I'm not exactly sure what prompted me to stumble on this, order it,
and read it at a gulp. But it's an absolute gem: very succinct, cogent,
and neither self-aggrandizing nor self-effacing. All the basics: what
enlightenment is/is not; a shot at 'anatman' that's one of the most
experientially descriptive I've encountered; an unsentimental
description of the 'bodhisattva'; an unhistrionic account of 'the Dark
Night.'
It's by Alan Chapman's confrere Duncan Barford: extremely ecumenical description of the essentials of 'the Great Matter'/'the Great Work.'

Shipping to my current location is a rather clunky undertaking, but it's on my list of things to order when I'm back in the US. I am particularly fond of Duncan's drift walking and urban explorations lately (on his website
www.oeith.co.uk
) and his experiments with vision work. I think he has several other books in progress I'm looking forward to also.
