Congrats Jackson!!!

Related to earlier parts of this thread, I took a course years ago called experience the nature of being or something like that. The teacher would talk about the nature of consciousness. He refused to get into developmental / species related discussions that students would always try to draw him into and would just keep repeating "Sorry, I don't do babies or dogs." :)

The fact is, with babies and dogs one is presuming. I've seen people react to what to me is clearly a baby, horse, dog...well, or even a fully verbal adult human! with the most inappropriate misinterpretation (from my perspective). You know, it can range from "Poopsie doesn't like strange men/My pony is scared of doing exercises indoors/outdoors." (usually projection) to the way we often react to an angry person defensively, distracted by their arm waving and shouting, rather than listening to the underlying fear that is being expressed and addressing that.

Ona, my memory "failure" seems to be related to the bubble I seem to be living in. By "bubble" I mean the ten seconds that surround now. Everything after that sort of just disappears into the void unless it has some kind of meaning attached to it.

@chris - it makes sense and sounds familiar as you describe it, though by the way you are a bit fascinated by it lately it may be more marked than my own experience.

What am I fascinated by again?

LOL. That's what Alan always said when he was teaching me. And I find I do the same with my writing. Funny how it works out just fine.

Just saw this. Congratulations Jackson! I am sure you will raise a very psychologically well adjusted child.

Get ready for a life changing experience. You will not get a lot of sleep at first. You will feel vulnerable in ways you've never been before. You'll feel like an adult for the first time, and you will be happy and fearful in an odd way, both at the same time. Then you will fall in love in a way that you have never felt before, and that love will consume you.

It's very, very cool.

Thanks, Jake. I'm really looking forward to it. My wife and I are going in for our fetal anatomy ultrasound today. If le bébé isn't feeling too shy this afternoon, we should be able to discover their sex. Then, we'll be able to say "his" or "her" instead of "their" :-D Exciting stuff!
