How obvious is you Buddhism? was created by Dharma Comarade
When someone walks into your home or office, or gets into your car, can they tell you are Buddhist or at least a practitioner?
Do you have an alter? A shrine? Buddha statues?
Is incense always burning in your house?
Is your zen name tattoed on your biceps?
Do you have a Buddha on a necklace around your neck?
Are there shoes lined up outside your front door?
Is there a zabutan on your floor?
Is Shambala Sun on your coffee table?
I'm pretty sure (Tomo and Chris correct me if I am wrong) that my interest in Buddhist practice is somewhat hidden from view. Though I do have Buddhist books by the toilet most of the time and some books on our one bookshelf.
Edit: why can't I fix the typo in the title to "How obvious is YOUR Buddhism?"
I thought of a couple more:
Is your head shaved?
Do you wear robes?
Do you gassho instead of shaking hands?
Is your interior decorating on the stark side, with a lot of natural woods and lovely lonely flowers in simple vases?
Do you have one of those little gongs?

excellent. The Buddhist books by the toilet is pretty awesome, actually. The list of questions made me laugh.
Well, I'm not really a Buddhist anyway, but between me and the SO (who is more Buddhist) we have a half dozen statues stuck around, mostly serving as bookends, and some hundred books here and there, including some in the bathroom. But no cushions or gongs or anything. We just sit on the couch or floor. I like the zen temple decor aesthetic. For that matter I like the Tibetan Buddhist aesthetic too. But we have enough crap as it is and do you really need to spend on special pretty cushions and gongs to meditate? Not even.
And I grew up taking off my shoes at the door (inside, not outside) and still do that. Keeps the floor cleaner.

Aside from the Buddhist stuff that cycles through my email sigs, and the odd thing I share on FB, I don't really do anything outwardly. But then, I don't know if I am a card-carrying Buddhist anyway. Hmm, how would I know?
I do shave my head fairly often, but am too lazy to keep it consistent, and I have been doing it way longer than I have been into this. And I sooo wish I could have a zen aesthetic at the house, but my minimalism is trumped by wife and kids.
But if anyone has a line on a really good ox herding print, I would love to put one up on my office wall. Next to the Vargas.
