Hello everybody!
I am smiling stone, from the dho where I have a few ongoing threads.
I've been hesitating for quite some time about joining here, although I've
met quite a few of you on the other forum, and know how open-minded
you are. It's mainly because I'm not connected to Kenneth Folk in any
way (apart from listening to his Michael Taft conversations -which I
appreciated-, and reading quite a bit) and I used to think of AN as a
private secluded place for his students... But there were various
invitations on the dho and here I am... I signed up a few weeks ago,
but got lost in some of your diaries. So thanks to this precious
little community!
Iam still calling myself a Goenka practitioner (with a critical bend!)
as the techniques learnt there are still at the heart of my practice,
and I still attend their retreats. I'll be happy to share about my
path here, on a practice log or something. As I don't produce that
much writing these days I might crosspost stuff from the dho if it
seems relevant to me... and if that's ok with you here of course.
In my first post on the dho,
I explain why I want to remain anonymous and don't give much private
details. 50ish years old European male, around twelve years of daily
practice interspersed with retreats in this tradition, trying to open
my views getting in contact with the pragmatic scene...
My explorations these days revolve around balance regarding experience,
and how our practice nurtures it; dissociation and how our practice
may feed it unknowingly; happiness vs extinction as the fruit of
practice; the nature of emotions. I don't believe there's such a
thing as "done".
Looking forward to knowing each of you better
Love and metta

PS: A special thanks to Tom for his work (I edited the editing line away!)

Hi smiling stone!
Good to have you here!
I don’t think people mind any methods or traditions here. And even if some do
well, you know what they say “view is like an …hole, everybody has one”
Again, good to have you here!

Welcome, Smiling Stone!
I think we here at AN may need to get to the root of our public rep

Welcome, and please note (since you mentioned you are a private person) that the category for Personal Practice is not visible outside of AN. So be sure to limit your more private posts to that area.
